One parent for new, younger wrestlers (K-6) may attend the initial week of practice. After the first 1-2 weeks, practices will be restricted to coaches and wrestlers due to space limitations. Parents may sit in the designated waiting areas during practices at Nordonia and Walsh.
Practice attire should be: T-shirt (short sleeve or long sleeve, NO sweatshirts) and shorts or sweatpants, headgear, and wrestling shoes.
For competitions: Singlet or tight-fitting t-shirt and shorts, headgear, wrestling shoes. We will provide a singlet for you to borrow or you can purchase one to keep.
All wrestlers must bring their own water bottle.
Headgear is required for practice and competitions. For first-year wrestlers, headgear and wrestling shoes are required after the 1st week of practice.
Wrestlers in K-6th grade will participate in the Buckeye Wrestling Association (BWA) league competitions, which includes a series of dual meets (most are on Sundays) during the regular season at surrounding school districts. Beginners and advanced wrestlers will have an opportunity to wrestle other kids of similar age, weight, and experience. In addition, other individual tournaments will be offered depending on interest and coach availability; however, these events may require a separate entry fee.
NOTE – Please talk to a coach if you have any concerns about whether or not your child is ready to compete.
